LAY LEADER
Mr. Howard Ross

Howard Ross retired from the Bell System in 1990 after a 30 year career spent mostly in Administrative Law. He is a graduate Electrical Engineer from the University of Vermont and in 2010 he was conferred with a PhD in Liberal Arts. Dr. Ross is the founder of the Seaford Community Pre-School (1968) the major out-reach ministry of the Seaford United Methodist Church and remains on the governing committee. He serves as Lay Leader and has certifications in Local Lay Speaking and Hospital Visitation ministry. Active in church leadership positions for over 49 years he is currently on the Administrative Council as Chairman of Finance. A member of the Board of Trustees he is chairman of the Insurance sub-committee and also a member of the Parsonage Committee. In 2010 Dr. Ross, a member of the American Guild of Organists, retired as church organist having held that position for 23 years. A widower, he has two children and three grandsons. He is a life member of the Seaford Lions club, a life member of the American Arbitration Association, a life member of the IEEE and life member of the Seaford Historical Society.

Mr. Ciro is a retired Telecom Executive and is a prolific handyman. His duties involve the maintenance and upkeep of all the Church and Pre-School facilities both inside and out. Both he and his wife Terry have been active members of our congregation for over 25 years and he serves as the guitarist in our Praise Group each Sunday as well as the Chairman of our Administrative Council. He has two grown children and an ever increasing number of grandchildren. Mr. Ciro is also the proud dad of our Church Organist, Janet Hoffner

Mrs. Steward, along with her husband Bill, is a life-long member of the Seaford Methodist Church . She enjoys being a teacher at our Pre-School and she also teaches Sunday school. Marge is the Recording Secretary for our Administrative Council

John started a roofing business over thirty five years ago and his workmanship, expertise and honesty are well known throughout Long Island . He has attended our church since 1957 and was confirmed here in 1970. John has always been very active in the church and clearly is very much a part of God's family. Mr. Goess is presently the Chairman of the Stewardship Committee and President of the Board of Trustee's as well as an active member of the Administrative Council. John has been and continues to be very active in the music ministry in our church for over 40 years and clearly enjoys doing so. John met his lovely wife Bonnie in our church and they have been married for 34 years and have 5 beautiful children. Their son Ben is also the acolyte.

Bob is retired from Verizon after 37 years, and now is teaching Driver's Education.  He is currently serving as a trustee.  He has been married for 42 years, and is now enjoying spending lots of time with his two grandchildren.

Sandy Francaviglia has been the Pre-School treasurer and the assistant Church treasurer since 1998. She became the Church treasurer last year. In addition to her duties as the Church and Pre-School treasurers, she is the Office Manager/Full Charge Bookkeeper for two different real estate management companies. Sandy graduated from SUNY Oneonta with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. For 10 years, she was the Youth Group advisor.

She is a member of the Praise Musicians, playing the keyboard, and along with her husband, Walter, has been an active member of the church for over 15 years.

Pat Budd became a member of our church 34 years ago. When our church began a pre-school and needed a teacher, Pat applied. She taught for two years and then was asked to step up to the position of Pre-School Director. Pat served and did an outstanding job as our Pre-School Director for 23 years

Ms. Budd also served as Treasurer for 20 years and has and continues to administer our Sunday collection for 32 years now.

Joan Langton works as a direct mail client services representative as a career but loves Seaford UMC and is an avid baker & crafter.  She's an active member of our congregation for over 14 years and stays involved in ministering to both the young & old of our congregation. Joan is a member of the Fellowship Committee, Angel Food Committee Co-Chair and is our Financial Secretary.  She has two children involved in the youth group and her husband, Mike, the house going full time as he's a retired NYPD officer

Walter Francaviglia has been the Chairman of Nurture for over 10 years, as well as a Sunday school teacher for that same period of time. He is a certified Methodist lay speaker and a member of the Praise Musicians, playing the drums. Walter was in the Christian bookstore business for 20 years, for 10 of those years managing Calvary Bookstore in NYC. He is currently employed by the Nassau County Police Department as a civilian worker. Along with his wife, Sandy, he has been an active member of our church for over 15 years.

Mrs. Doralyn Hewitt

Mrs. Hewitt is a retired registered nurse and elementary school teacher who is the Caring Committee Coordinator of our church.  She is also the Witness chairperson as well.  She and her husband, Bobby have been married 42 years and have one daughter, and two lovely grandchildren. Mrs. Hewitt volunteers on the Angel Food Committee of our church and is Coordinator of the Women's Group.  She also serves the church as a liturgist and often does the children's chat on Sunday mornings.

Mrs. Colquhoun is a pediatric registered nurse at Nassau University Medical
Center . She has worked there for over 37 years. Currently, she is Chairman of
Staff-Parish Relations and actively involved with the women's group, Angel Food
Ministries, Blessing of the Animals and Halloween outreach. She also
participates in the Wednesday evening Bible Study and the Adult Sunday Morning
Bible Study. Her hobbies include gardening, birding, cooking and fine dining.
She is a member of Chaine des Rotisseurs. She and her husband Douglas are proud
of their 2 grown children. Catherine is an accomplished violinist and music
educator and Brian is pursuing a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice

Mr. Colquhoun is Associate Director of Respiratory Therapy at Nassau University
Medical Center . He has worked there for over 34 years. Hobbies include
golfing, fishing and fine dining. He is a member of Chaine des Rotisseurs, the world's oldest international gastronomic society . Both he and his wife have been active members of this church for over 20 years. Mr. Colquhoun is Lead Usher, a member of the Board of Trustees and has participated in the Blessing of the Animals the past 2 years. He has been participating in Adult Sunday Morning Bible Study for over 18 years. He and his wife Kathleen are proud of their 2 grown children who are alumni of Seaford
United Methodist Church 's Pre-School. Both children are pursuing Master's Degrees

Terry, along with her husband Vinny, has been a member of our congregation for over 25 years. She is the communion steward and dutifully prepares the elements of the Lord's Supper for distribution by our Pastor each Sunday. Terry is also a member of the Parsonage Committee. She is also the proud mom of our Church Organist, Janet Hoffner.

Isabella Cavaco has been involved in Sunday School work since her late teen years. She is challenged and intrigued by involvement with children (and adults) in an environment where God's love for us can be shared and the importance of His presence in our everyday life can be taught and stressed. For the past 31½ years, she has been our Church School Superintendent and for the last 30 years the Director of our Vacation Bible School . Mrs. Cavaco has also been a teacher in our Community Pre-School for the last 22½ years. Spiritually and socially, Bible study is very important to her. Consequently at the present time she is participating in our Wednesday Night Bible Study.

Isabella and her husband, Manny, have been married for almost 51 years. They have been blessed with three wonderful children, their great spouses and six very precious grandchildren. Her family life is very fulfilling.

Rev. Dr. Edwin Jones
Dr. Jones was born in Johannesburg South Africa . He is married to Una, also a native of South Africa and together they have two grown children, a son Wesley who lives in Queen Creek Arizona and a daughter Michelle who lives in Norwalk Connecticut . Dr. Jones received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Kentucky Wesleyan College , in Owensboro Kentucky , his Master of Divinity degree from Boston University , School of Theology and his Doctor of Ministry degree from Drew Seminary in Madison New Jersey. He served several churches in South Africa as their superintendent minister and here in the USA he served the Methodist church in Lynn Massachusetts, Warwick Rhode, Yorktown Heights, New York, New Canaan Ct, and now the Seaford United Methodist church. His passion as a pastor is to help people bridge the spiritual, relational, and financial gaps in their lives. He is also a firm believer in the notion that the best is yet to be.

Manuel Cavaco has been a member of our Church for 30 years. He had worked for The Village of Freeport Electric Department and retired in 1996 after 34 years of service. He has been very active in our Church government and activities. Manuel had worked as our Sexton for many years and retired in 2001. He is presently the Chairman of the Parsonage Committee, a member of the Board of Trustees and the Administrative Council. Manuel and his wife, Isabella, have been married 51 years and have three children and six grandchildren.
