Programs and Curriculum

Four Year Old Program
The overall goal of the four year curriculum is to prepare the child socially, emotionally and intellectually for Kindergarten, to develop the child's self-esteem, to foster a sense of competence and help the child develop a love of learning. We also strive to help each child develop healthy and strong emotional and social attitudes in relation to separation from their parents, group participation, sharing and taking turns. Our program focuses on early language and literacy development, pre-writing, math and science. Art activities focus on each child's creative expression. Children have daily opportunities to develop fine motor skills through drawing, crafts, painting and manipulating many different small objects. Children spend time everyday on our fenced outdoor playground that is specially designed to promote all aspects of good physical development. On rainy days we have a large indoor playroom available. Children develop self-help skills throughout the day by choosing and directing many of their activities, dressing and undressing themselves, putting away their materials and toys and cleaning up their snack tables.

Meeting Times
The four year old classes meet either 3 times (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) or 5 times ( Monday thru Friday) a week from 9:30 to 12 noon or 12:30 to 3:00. The student/teacher ratio is 16:2.

Three Year Old Program
The overall goal of the three year old curriculum is to have the child learn to be comfortable letting go of Mom and Dad and become a participating member of a group. The children are taught social skills such as sharing, good listening, following directions and taking turns. Children are taught how to use language to enter into play situations, solve problems, communicate their needs and negotiate with their classmates. Children choose to play in various centers throughout the classroom such as art tables, blocks and dramatic play. The children begin to work on self-help skills such as toileting, putting away toys, and cleaning up after snack. Children spend time outdoors or indoors daily.

Meeting Times
The three year old classes meet 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) or 2 times a week (Tuesday and Thursday) from 9:30 to 12 noon or 12:30 to 3:00. The student/teacher ratio is 16:2.

Kindergarten Enrichment Program
The Kindergarten Enrichment Program is an extended day program for those students who will be entering Kindergarten upon graduating from the preschool. It is a structured two hour program that meets two afternoons a week. The goal is to provide an extended education of the preschool class that promotes the intellectual, physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth of each student. This program also promotes independence and provides positive experiences that will prepare the child for a full day of Kindergarten and future learning.

Summer Camp Program

Our regular school program ends each year on the second Thursday in June. After that, we offer a Summer Program that begins the third week of June and runs for eight weeks. Each week has different theme, such as "Christmas in July", Sports Week", "Halloween", or "Beach Week". Camp meets only Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays of each week. Kiddie pools, as well as sprinklers, are set up in our outdoor fenced playground for use each day. It is recommended that each child wear a bathing suit and bring a change of clothing and a towel daily.
